This is the resulting image. I gave it a real retro look as to mimic the colours that were used in film when her mom got married.

It is impossible not to take awesome photos there, but then again, having an attractive couple does help too. As she walked down the isle on her dad's arm it was wonderful to watch a teary eyed Brian welcoming her to his side. Melinda in return became very emotional when they exchanged vows - a sight I absolutely love to see and document. Brides, please don't try to fight back the tears, I can't think of anything worse than an unemotional bride ;-) This is the one day where emotions must show because these are the thoughts and feelings you will want to remember. Travis has got a real model look about him - he actually was a hair model for L'Oreal a few years back when he had long locks. And gorgeous Leigh - what can one say - beauty is a very common thing in this family. I did her sister's Candice & Gary's wedding in Kenya last year. The one is as beautiful as the other. I hope that when Leigh and Travis are having their vows renewed in SA in a few months time that I will be right there to capture it! It was probably the longest pre-shoot I have done to date, I just enjoyed it so much I didn't even notice the time. They were willing to try anything I suggested and it was very clear to me that they take their wedding photography seriously, which is just the way I love it. Leanne is beautiful in a natural tomboyish way. They both have beautiful eyes. They are super excited about getting married. Leanne and Willem are tying the knot in September at Lezar Opstal, Heildelberg. ]]>

A 1000 volunteers registered in less than 24 hours to help out at hospitals, donate baby blankets and clothes and getting patients to clinics that are not willing to be part of the strike. Hats off to everyone who want to make this country a better place even though wages may not be what we were hoping for. Millions of South Africans would trade places with those on strike. But let me not dwell on that now. I rather want to celebrate our entrepreneurial spirit.

We find them everywhere – street or Mall performers that are trying to earn a buck by providing some form of entertainment to passers by. You find this across the world, but I wonder if you find “tin men” anywhere else than right here in Africa. One has to admire the time it has to take to get yourself covered from head to toe in silver paint with not a patch of other colour shown except for your mouth and the black of your eyes. My kids are totally fascinated by these guys – ok, Lynelle is normally slightly freaked out but still fascinated. They stand motionless until someone passes by close or shows interest. A sudden jerk or movement delights the crowd watching them in slight disbelief that anyone would put themselves through this day after day. And one has to celebrate this, don’t you think? This is not begging for money or standing on a busy road disrupting traffic – in my opinion, this is an art form and I love to watch and photograph. Kudo’s to everyone that are thinking outside the box and trying to get by, by doing something that puts a smile on somebody’s face
