Claire and Sean’s wedding was unique in so many ways. It took place at the stunning Umbhaba in Hazyview, a part of the world very close to my heart. Driving the 5 hours from Joburg on the day, I looked on nervously as I saw dark clouds gathering, but after a while I made peace with the fact that their wedding day was definitely going to be a wet one. Claire looked a vision in her wedding dress, but also a little nervous, as she peeped her head out of the door to be greeted by ripples on the lake in front of the chalets. I reassured her that her wedding day was going to be blessed beyond her dreams. And then… the minister didn’t show… yes people, the marriage officiant that was to marry this beautiful couple was literally missing in action!!  Luckily Claire’s dad had a plan B and had another, very charming minister, I might add, came to the rescue to do the honours. Though the ceremony started an hour later than planned, there was still enough light for us to get beautiful images as the rain let up, for just a few minutes, and we made a run for it.

The reception was a party of note. It was evident to us that this couple are adored by family and friends, and that they have very close family ties that have carried them both up to this point in their lives. It was a wonderful occasion and we enjoyed it very much. Thank you so much for making myself and Derek feel part of the family and for your wonderful hospitality! We wish you an abundance of happiness and health and many many years of making each other happy.
